our story

Crescent City Community Church was started in 2009. Having seen God open incredible doors through hurricane relief ministry post-Katrina, we dreamed of a new church infused into the rebuilding community of Gentilly led by a team of pastors. The dream began to take shape with a Sunday evening gathering in a home that was eventually moved to an old church building. We explored new ways to get involved in the community both as individuals and as a church body. Mentors taught us about church planting, diversity and team leadership. At the time, we were known as "NOLA Church Plant."

Over the course of the next couple of years, God opened all sorts of doors for us. Our efforts at hosting short term mission teams continued, and these efforts were now complimented by a the long-term presence in Gentilly. Our new church body got involved in projects like the St. James Playspot KaBoom rebuild, Gentilly Fest and the Gentilly Community Center of Hope. An opportunity arose to start hosting monthly community movie nights at a local playground. We launched an exciting new kid's ministry that met during our gatherings.

In the midst of our work, God continued to connect us with new people. God began to grow the size of our congregation and the size of our influence in the community.

In January of 2012, we gathered a small group of people to talk about our identity. We eventually landed on the name "Crescent City Community Church." On Easter Sunday, we officially launched our Sunday morning worship services at Gentilly Terrace Charter School.

In the Summer of 2017, we relocated to Arthur Ashe Charter School. We are excited to see how God uses this new partnership to expand our influence on our community!

Our story continues to evolve. We are not finished yet. We believe that there is much more that God has called us to do and to be. We'd love for you to join us as He writes the next chapter!
